New York City Mayor Eric Adams has named two cryptocurrency industry leaders as advisors, signaling a strategic pivot toward digital finance innovation. The appointments come weeks after the U.S. Department of Justice dropped a high-profile corruption case against Adams during the Trump administration.

June Ou, founder of blockchain firm Figure, and Richie Hecker, CEO of Traction and Scale, will guide the city on implementing crypto, blockchain, and Web3 technologies for public benefit and economic growth. Adams announced the MOVE alongside plans for NYC’s inaugural digital finance summit during a May 12 press conference at Gracie Mansion.

The advisory appointments mark a deliberate shift in the Adams administration’s focus following months of legal scrutiny. "We are focused on positioning New York as the global hub for financial technology," Adams stated, though his remarks were cut short.
